The Youth Marines Program is a youth education and service initiative for boys and girls aged 8 through the completion of high school. The program promotes mental, moral, and physical development while emphasizing leadership, teamwork, and self-discipline. 

The Youth Marines Program aims to promote the mental, moral, and physical development of its members. Members are taught to live and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle and to be productive community members. Classes emphasize:

  • Leadership
  • Honoring Veterans
  • Physical Fitness
  • Drug Demand Reduction
  • Community Service
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Citizenship

The program is designed to stimulate interest in academic achievement and respect for the history and traditions of the United States. Sheriff’s Office personnel, instructors, and senior staff act as positive role models, reinforcing the ideals taught in the program. Physical fitness is promoted through various activities, including athletic events and close order drills. The program also continually advocates for a drug-free lifestyle through ongoing drug prevention education. The program also includes a color guard team that participates in events across the parish, further instilling a sense of community and service.
